000014370 520__ $$2eng$$aSumma Lyln this paper, we studied the effect of an exponential distribution of the Young’s modulus and the density in monolith and sandwich beams. Such a distribution of property shows a localization of the vibration in the low stiffness and low density part of the structure. A finite element model is compared to analytical approach based on WKB method for inhomogeneous wave guide for a better understanding of the parameters governing energy localisation in these structures.
