000014739 520__ $$2eng$$aUsing a large database of well resolved direct numerical simulations, we show that small-scale universality, dissipative anomaly, and anomalous velocity gradients exponents attain an asymptotic character at very low Reynolds numbers—in fact, lower that those needed for the emergence of an inertial range. An implication of this observation is that inertial-range dynamics, for example, may not be responsible for small-scale intermittency. We also show that inertial range information can be accurately obtained from dissipative range statistics.
