Here, we present a novel treatment of shockwaves and material interfaces in the context of high-order Eulerian simulations of hyperelastic solids, liquids and gases using a 10th order spectral-like compact finite difference scheme [1] and an adaptation of the standard LAD scheme [2]. The method is suitable for solving high energy density problems in a single phase as well as problems involving interactions between different phases. Particular emphasis is laid on the scaling of the model constants in the LAD scheme for different problems. We demonstrate the applicability of the method using 1D stationary shock, shock tube and impact problems.
