One of the issues for every hybrid simulation platform is the way to address the diverse control systems existing at structural laboratories: reference displacement/force values produced by the numerical solution algorithm running at a remote site have to be passed to the control system and applied on the structural component under physical testing. The paper examines the effectiveness of two possible approaches to tackle the issue of performing hybrid simulation, taking into account the heterogeneous hardware of labs testing experimental substructures.
