In the unsymmetrical case, some eigenfrequencies may not follow this rule. The exact equations for eigenfrequencies and the explicit expressions for power flow are obtained. The asymptotic analysis of power flow in an infinite periodic structure is carried out and the structure of pass- and stop-bands is explored. The modes of free vibrations of a finite periodic structure are analyzed with the special attention to edge effects.
