NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF TRANSVERSE FATIGUE CRACK IN THE ROTOR SYSTEM SUPPORTED BY RADIAL ACTIVE MAGNETIC BEARINGS

Abstract eng:
For the purpose of efficient diagnostics of fault conditions the influence of transverse fatigue crack on dynamical behaviour of a rotor system supported by active magnetic bearings must be clarified. A so-called breathing behaviour of the crack is introduced when static deflection of shaft is considered larger than vibration amplitude of a shaft. In this work the opened and breathing models of the crack are incorporated into computational model of the rotor system. The opening and closing of the crack is governed by the status of stress intensity factor along the crack edge. The influence of different models of the crack, depth of the crack and external damping coefficient is investigated with help of frequency spectra, vibration responses and orbit plots.
