DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF A HIGH BUILDING IN STRONG WIND

Abstract eng:
Repeated cold front transitions in January 2007 in the Czech Republic were accompanied by occurrences of strong winds. Before the strongest one, accelerometers and a recorder have been placed on the high building Shiran Tower (formerly VUMS) in the Prague west end. A dynamic part of the building response to the wind gusts in this period has been recorded. The paper includes dynamic features of the building, standard effects of wind, measuring results and corresponding meteorological information from the station Prague Ruzyně.
