APPLICATION OF THE IMPACT-ECHO DIAGNOSTIC METHOD FOR THE DETECTION OF LARGE CAVITIES IN THICK-WALLED CONCRETE STRUCTURES OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS

Abstract eng:
The methods, how to do in-service inspections of ageing reinforced concrete of nuclear power plants more quickly, cheaply and reliably, are still looking for. Advanced Impact-Echo method seams to be very hopeful. It consists in the locating void position by the reflections of elastic waves between the void and surface. This paper continues a set of previous works. The numerical simulations of the fast transient processes for the detection and localization of cavities in the different positions are presented here. The second way - the detection in frequency domain exactly according to ASTM - will be demonstrated in second part of the paper.
