RANDOM RESPONSE OF ONE-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURE WITH NON-PROPORTIONAL DAMPING DUE TO WIND EXCITATION

Abstract eng:
Slender structures exposed to wind influences are subjected to a random component of the pressure generated by a fluctuation part of the wind velocity. The structure itself is mostly completed by a vibration absorber of various type, which is an origin of a significant non-proportionality of the damping. This factor involves to respect an interaction of eigen-functions (or eigen-forms) on the level of the system itself and moreover on the level of the stochastic interaction of the response with respect to these generalized coordinates. In this study linking with the last year’s paper theoretical results and basic properties of the system is briefly remembered. Then the authors are focussed on an analysis of the particular structure. Factor of various non-proportionality ratio is assessed in a relation with the damping efficiency of individual eigen-forms from the point of view of their interaction and their influence onto final results. It is coming to light that many eigen-forms are able to abandon the subcritical regime and to loss any real influence onto the result. However their hidden influence on other eigen-forms can still remain in force.
