It is linked to works presented at the IM2004 conference. The basic idea is as follows. Every feed axis consists of controlled motor, which acts on some movable part (e.g. table) with action force. The reaction force effect is usually captured by the machine frame. The floating principle profits of the usage of this reaction force to increase the relative acceleration between positioned parts and previously fixed – newly movable machine frame. The secondary effect is that the transmission of the reaction force to the frame is suppressed. This leads to suppression of parasitic vibrations of the machine.
