000001765 520__ $$2eng$$aWRG stands for Welded Reinforcement Grids, which is a technology dealing with welding of steel reinforcement bars. The main idea of WRG is a replacement of the conventional bended transverse reinforcement with welded transverse reinforcement in order to get more effective functioning of the structure. The differences lead to a partial change in presumptions of Baugrid and Bautech firms that deal with design of welded grids. The relations describing stresses and behavior of welded materials are often based on experiments. For this reason, the most up-to-date standard provisions recommend and require a series of normative tests for all sorts of structural welded reinforcement joints. The computational methods are put aside and more likely used as a preliminary or conservative solution in order to find the values of stresses and capacity. This fact can lead to less effective and uneconomical design of welded reinforcement with a greater margin of reliability and safety. It is also recommended to verify the final values by normative tests and correct the design by the obtained values…
