The systems being implemented are energy dissipation and base isolation devices. This paper develops a brief history of the recent important earthquakes in Peru and a description of the typical buildings that need to be protected by devices like those already mentioned. The motivation for this recent interest in structural vibration control is explained, such as hospital buildings, office buildings, library buildings, schools, housing buildings. Some of the first structures using seismic dissipation and base isolation devices in Peru are presented. The analyses results show significant reduction in story drifts and important reductions in seismic forces, which ensures more safety and more comfort for the users.
