This spurs the rapid development of high-rise buildings in its large cities, especially Jakarta. Along with this rapid development, the codes for structural design practices have experienced major changes, especially those which are related to earthquakes which normally governs the structural design of tall to mega tall buildings, since most of Indonesia regions are seismic prone. This paper discusses the development of Indonesia building design standards and codes. Special highlights are given for the most current seismic standards and codes. Their implementation on advanced structural analyses and design methods for designing the foundation and upper-structure of mega-tall buildings such as the proposed Signature Tower in Jakarta is presented. This 111 floor tower with 7 basement layers could be the tallest building which is located in one of the most active seismic zone in the world. Since the building also stands on very deep soft soil layers of alluvial deposit, it has a complex seismic behavior. In addition the paper highlights how the Performance-Based Design (PBD) considering the Risktargeted Maximum Considered Earthquake, (MCER) levels of seismic hazard was carried out.
