S-wave impedance ratio of the uppermost layer to the basement, Z 1 /Z 0 , is alternative candidate for the prediction parameters. We compare the prediction performances for site amplification factors between V Sz and Z 1 /Z 0 , on the basis of the numerical experiments. Depth z taking the average of S-wave velocity must be selected on the basis of the target period range of site amplification factors. Z 1 /Z 0 is similar performance to V S10 , and better than V S30 for PGA amplification. This implies that Z 1 /Z 0 is effective on the usage of site amplification predictions because Z 1 only requires the physical parameter on the uppermost surface layer.
