TRANSIENT ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS BY AN ENHANCED COMPONENT MODE SYNTHESIS

Abstract eng:
For reduced order modeling, the static correction is generally used to transform the global systems to the reduced systems. The reduced systems can be more precisely constructed by the dynamic correction considering the inertia effect. Based on this idea, we recently developed enhanced component mode synthesis (CMS) by improving Craig-Bampton (CB) and automated multi-level substructuring (AMLS) methods [1-4]. In this presentation, we introduce their basic formulations including the key concepts, and show their excellent performance through numerical examples. In particular, we investigate its transient responses with damping included.
