In particular a number of wall panel configurations with different aspect ratio, i.e. height over width, number and types of connections as well as load conditions were analyzed (see Figure). Different modelling approaches were adopted in order to verify their influence on the global response of the CLT assemblies. Specifically, three different approaches were compared: the first two involve respectively the adoption of special coupled non-linear springs for connections, that may take into account the contribution of the friction between the panel and the foundation. The third one is based on a simplified phenomenological model where all non-linearities were localized in the diagonal spring elements of the panel. The constitutive laws adopted for the modelling of the CLT panels were calibrated on the base of available experimental results. The results obtained from this study show the importance of accurate modelling of entire CLT system, i.e. panel with its connections, adopting reliable numerical models of each component. This work may represent a first contribution towards a whole comprehension of the structural response of CLT assemblies subjected to dynamic actions.
