GUIDELINES FOR RISK-BASED SEISMIC ANALYSIS OF “SPECIAL RISK” PETROCHEMICAL PLANTS

Abstract eng:
Based on the technical achievements of the RFCS project INDUSE-2-SAFETY (RFS-PR-13056), design guidelines and recommendations that will contribute to the improvement of Eurocodes will be presented. In particular, recommendations will be offered for the amendment of Eurocode 0 (consequence classes, probability of failures and limit states, structural reliability differentiation, fragility curves) , Eurocode 8 Part 1 (performance objectives including investments and economic losses, importance factors, selection criteria for accelerograms, low cycle fatigue for steel), Eurocode 8 Part 4 (steel cylindrical tanks, piping networks, viscous damping estimation, fragility curves), Eurocode 3 Part 4-2 (Tank modelling, limit state definition, anchorage design, durability of materials), Eurocode 3 Part 4-3 (method of analysis of pipelines, serviceability and ultimate limit states), Eurocode 3 Part 1-8 (connection design), EN 13480-3 (metallic industrial piping design) and EN 1591 (design and calculation of flange joints).
