SECONDARY BRACINGS & VARIED CONFIGURATION OF DIAGRID STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS

Abstract eng:
Structural design of high rise buildings is governed by lateral loads due to wind and earthquake. Lateral load resistance of structure is provided by interior structural system or exterior structural system. Recently, diagrid structural systems are being preferred for high rise structures worldwide due to their structural efficiency and flexibility in architectural planning. An effort to review the investigation for the stiffness and strength based design of diagrid structure is presented. Parameters exhibiting a significant role such as the diagrid angle, module height, presence of corner vertical columns etc. on the behavior of the diagrid system is investigated. Further, the importance of Secondary Bracing System (SBS) in tackling the local structural issues like stability of interior columns and local flexibility which arise due to multistory modules is also highlighted. Unsatisfactory performance in terms of interstorey drift is an issue that needs redressal.
