CFD SUPPORT TO RISK ASSESSMENT RELATED TO SEISMIC EVENTS IN PETROCHEMICAL PLANTS

Abstract eng:
A Computational Fluid Dynamic approach was used in order to evaluate the effect of material dispersion in the ambient with consequent risk for pollution or ignition. Such risk assessment was made considering a leakage event starting from a reservoir damage due to seismic events, and an ignition/burst occurrence for a similar event involving CH4 exit in atmosphere with subsequent triggering of similar events nearby. The information taken allowed to set up a warning map to be used for the predicting models developed by the project partners.
