It has been shown that monopilesupported offshore wind turbines in a parked state are prone to highly nonlinear resonant phenomena induced by wave nonlinearities. On the contrary, if the turbine is in a power-production state, wave nonlinearities are negligible due to the increased aerodynamic damping. However, in the case of windwaves misalignment, since the rotor plane is always facing the main wind direction, the effects of aerodynamic damping is reduced in the directions of waves. In this study a monopile-supported offshore wind turbine is modelled in linear, fully nonlinear and no waves, with wind-wave misalignment varying from 0° to 90° in steady increments. The main conclusion is that as the misalignment angle increases, the influence of wave nonlinearities decreases for a parked turbine but slightly increases for a turbine in power production.
