Green initiatives: education for maintenance of the environmental heritage

Abstract eng:
The principles of the Global Compact influenced the onset of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) which seeks to establish a process of continuous improvement in the business education institutions in order to develop a new generation of business leaders. In Brazil, the Federal Law 9795/99 aimed at the implementation of environmental education at all educational levels. This article aims to demonstrate how learning practices developed in the classroom, regardless of discipline, can arouse the interest of students to issues related to the environment. This is a case study concerning the teaching of sustainability in the discipline of English in a Technological Undergraduate Course. The study aimed to evaluate student learning in relation to relevant sustainability issues. As a result of this study, it was realized that the concepts of sustainability can be incorporated by means of teaching of a cross-cutting theme in English for Specific Purposes classes.
