Sound Protection of Half-Timbered Buildings


Abstract eng:
This paper deals with the sound protection of half-timbered buildings. It shall help architects and engineers to consider the sound insulation when planning such buildings. The requirements due to building and civil laws are discussed and procedures to certify the sound insulation are shown. The acoustic properties of half-timbered walls and wood beam ceilings are lined out, and measures to improve the sound insulation are pointed out. Special problems relating to the sound insulation of half-timbered buildings are discussed.
