Research of RC Slab-Column Structures in the Failure Stage

Abstract eng:
This paper presents the results of 2 RC rectangular slab (span of 2,65 m, 0,20 m thick) column (0,40×0,40 m) connections. The bottom slab reinforcement over the column consisted of bars of two types of steel: class A (steel SII – specimen PII/12-1) – low ductility and class C (steel SI – specimen PI/16-1) - high ductility according to EC-2 regulations. Both tested models failed by punching. The maximum capacity of supporting zone in the failure stage were for specimen reinforced with SII steel Fmax,s=386 kN and Fmax,s=445 kN for the model PI/16-1 with SI steel. The calculated capacity Fcal in the failure stage according to Codes [4, 5] were smaller (15% - specimen PI-16-1 and 20% - specimen PII/12-1) than the maximum Fmax,s. Maximum surface loads (over the slab load) in the failure stage were q=5,7 kN/m2 in the specimen PII/16-1 (SI steel) and q=7,3 kN/m2 in the specimen reinforced with high ductility steel SII..
