Problems Concerning the Removal of Snow from the Roofs of Untypical Assembly Halls

Abstract eng:
In the year 2006 after a series of breakdowns of the roofs of halls all over Europe the Polish standards concerning the load of snow were changed, dividing the country into climatic zones and taking into account differentiated values of the load factor. In the case of building structures in the region of Katowice this meant an increase of the calculated load of snow by 38%. In order to secure the required load-bearing capacity of the respective elemets of the roof, where the load is significant, the structure of the roofs must be strengthened, and in winter the roofs must be cleared of snow. In the case of roofs with an untypical configuration it may prove to be of importance that the snow is removed from the respective elements in some given order. The present paper deals with two complex roof structures, in the case of which the improper succession of removing the snow may have resulted in overloading their elements.
