Exact Solution of the Bending Vibration Problem of FGM Beams with Longitudinal Variation of Material Properties

Abstract eng:
This contribution deals with deriving a fourth-order differential equation of the beams deflection with longitudinal variation of material properties. The linear beam theory has been used for establishing the equilibrium- and kinematic beam equations. The shear forces deformation effect and the effect of continuous mass distribution and the effect of mass inertia moment have been accounted. Longitudinal variation of the effective longitudinal elasticity modulus and mass density can be caused by longitudinal variation of both the elasticity modulus and volume fraction of the FGM constituents. Numerical experiments have been done concerning the calculation of the eigenfrequencies and corresponding eigenmodes of chosen FGM beams. Obtained results have been compared with the ones obtained by using the 2D plane stress elements of the FEM program ANSYS. Numerical validation documents the high accuracy of our proposed exact solution.
