On the Computational Dynamic Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI) Concepts in the Time Domain

Abstract eng:
The paper is devoted to a review and discussion on the dynamic Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI) computational concepts, in the time domain, from seismic loads. At first, a short historical retrospection of the SSI models is presented. All the basic aspects that influence on the structure due to the SSI are demonstrated by decomposition of the motion of a SDOF system. The assumptions and restrictions of some of the concepts are pointed. Finally, the advance FEM techniques, which take into account the SSI, are discussed in brief. A numerical example demonstrates the accuracy of the suggested advance computational method.
