Earthquake Modal Response of Structures with Equal Free Vibration Frequencies
Abstract eng: In this paper the authors propose a new procedure for the normalization of the free vibration mode shapes of a linear structure subject to seismic load. The normalization procedure avoids the concept of a participation factor and an effective modal mass. The paper also deals with the combination rules of the modal response of structures with equal frequencies.
