Vybrané problémy hydrologických návrhových veličín pre protipovodňovú ochranu

Abstract eng:
The recent extreme floods Central Europe resulted into scientific and societal concerns about the reliability of flood frequency estimates. During the last years many new concepts and methods for design discharge and precipitation calculation were introduced into the engineering practice in several countries. In the paper a short overview about the methods and uncertainties in the design value estimation is presented. On the basis of results from a large number of local studies the need to reevaluate the current practice of design flood estimation in Slovakia is stressed and a general platform for the new guidelines of statistical and regional flood frequency analysis is suggested.
