On the Removal of the Non-Uniqueness from the Solution of Elastostatic Problems by the Second-Kind Boundary Integral Equation System
Abstract eng: The elimination of non-unique solutions of Boundary Integral Equation system of the second kind appearing for two-dimensional problems of linear elasticity is discussed. The discussion covers especially a curious resource of non-unique solutions: Boundary Value Problems on domains with prescribed Dirichlet boundary conditions on its cavities as counterpart of a trivial and natural case of Neumann Boundary Value Problem. The contribution explains the phenomenon through the theory of Fredholm operators.
