Methods for its practical determination are analyzed. An example of application of the apparent thermal conductivity concept for a hybrid-fiber reinforced cement composite exposed to high temperatures up to 1000°C is given. The practical utilization of the concept in the assessment of the behavior of porous materials and their multi-layered systems exposed to high temperatures is discussed.
