Exhaust hood for single flow arrangement of steam turbine

Abstract eng:
The basic form of the exhaust hood for single flow arrangement of steam turbine was designed by the experience from the optimization process of hoods for double flow arrangement. Nevertheless there are some differences in flow conditions in both types of hoods. The influence of front wall inclination and outer casing shifting against the internal diffuser on losses are tested. The attention is payed to some technologic adaptations of outer casing. For example various forms of cavity in front wall for bearing pedestal on value of loss coefficient are check up. The computational model is chosen for further modifications. The measured inlet velocity distribution is applied in computations. The internal reinforcement elements are neglected. Some results are compared with available experimental data.
