DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF A ROTOR SYSTEM SUPPORTED BY RADIAL ACTIVE MAGNETIC BEARINGS WITH THE SHAFT CONTAINING A TRANSVERSE CRACK AND A SLANT CRACK

Abstract eng:
In the present study, finite element method analysis of a rotor system supported by radial active magnetic bearings has been performed for a shaft containing a transverse and a slant crack. The influence of breathing slant crack and transverse crack on the steady-response of a rotor system excited by centrifugal forces is shown through computer simulations. The response of the rotor system is obtained by direct integration of equations of motion. The steady-state response of the rotor system with a slant crack in the shaft excited by centrifugal forces due to an unbalance of rotating parts contains various subharmonic resonances. The effect of the slant crack on a lateral steady-state response of a rotor system is practically same as the transverse crack.
