NUMERICAL EXPERIMENTS IN A GLOBAL ENERGETIC MODEL OF DAMAGE


Abstract eng:
This paper presents a Finite Element-based approach to constructing an approximate energetic solution to a non-local damage model proposed by Mielke and Roub´cek (2006). Particular emphasis is given to obtaining a solution based ıˇ on global rather that local energy minimization. Performance of the model and the numerical scheme is demonstrated on a basic two-dimensional example.
