Application the ”impact-echo” method to the concrete structure diagnostic in NPP building

Abstract eng:
To be nuclear power plants exploited as long as is safely possible, they must certify their safety. Many steel-concrete structures participate considerably on this safety. This work has two main purposes: ♦ The first one is possibility study of the reinforcing rods detection. The exact rods position is needed to know to choose properly the place where the specimen can by taken from to don’t get into collision with any steel rod. And the rods depth is needed to know to determine the steel affection by corrosion agents. ♦ The localization and detection of potential cracks at the both surfaces (accessible and inaccesible) is the second purpose of this work. The detection of cracks with variable depth and wall with cavity are being about to do. The main point of this presented part of the wider work is to realize the study of method usage. In the both cases the “impact-echo” acoustic method is employed (according to ASTM standard). The reflection of the elastic waves from the inhomogenities and discontinuities is utilized here.
