Comparison Of Predicted Value Of Maximum Height For Tall Square Buildings Subjected To Peak Wind Loads At Different Terrains

Abstract eng:
Effort is made to predict the along wind oscillation of a tall square building from first principles and across wind oscillation of the same from established empirical relations. The criterion for human comfort is being considered. A comparison between the limiting values of building height at different terrain conditions shows severeness of across wind oscillations in comparison to along wind oscillation, and the comfort criterion is combined with across wind oscillation results to determine the maximum allowable height of a building.
