Modeling the reliability of a high set house subjected to cyclonic wind loading

Abstract eng:
This paper presents a housing wind resistance model to estimate the likely failure mode and percentage of failure for a representative proportion of houses. Findings from full scale house testing, and component joint tests, have been incorporated in this study. The house wind resistance model focuses on the chain of connections from the roof cladding fixings to the subfloor bracing. Failure modes of loss of roof cladding, loss of roof structure, wall failure and sub floor racking failure were derived for a range of internal pressures.
