Effect of Corner Balconies on Wind-Induced Response of Tall Buildings

Abstract eng:
Numerous tall building projects wind tunnel tested by RWDI, as well as other studies, reveal that corner balconies can potentially reduce wind-induced loads on tall buildings. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the effect of corner balconies on wind-induced loads on tall buildings and to quantify this effect. The wealth of data collected at RWDI for many tall buildings and the data collected from specific wind tunnel testing carried out for this study have been used for this investigation.
