C-130 Tests on a Gable Roofed Manufactured Home

Abstract eng:
A manufactured home with a gable roof with 15.6 o roof pitch was tested in flows generated from a C130 aircraft at Texas Tech University’s full-scale facility at the former Reese Air Force Base. Flow speeds over 100 mph were generated during the test regimen. Testing of the structure included both the enclosed and partially enclosed internal pressure cases. The structure experienced failure of a roof deck panel and a window during testing. Pressure coefficient data collected in the C130 flow is compared to that obtained in the natural wind environment and to that provided in the literature and the ASCE 7-02 standard.
