A Nonparametric Deterministic-Stochastic Hybrid Model for Nonstationary Wind Speeds

Abstract eng:
Aiming to characterize and simulate nonstationary wind fields, this paper proposes a nonparametric deterministic-stochastic hybrid (NDESH) model. The NDESH model evolves from the authors’ previous works [1~4], where many aspects of this model were developed. In this paper, the NDESH model is formally presented in terms of its formulation, physical meaning, applications and model identification. Specifically for the model identification, the state space statistical approaches based on the Akaike’s information criteria (AIC) are presented for inferring time-varying mean wind speeds and variances and compared to some other methods.
