LES analysis for behavior of a flying plate with rotation in turbulent flow

Abstract eng:
In order to predict the trajectories of flying debris, it is important to grasp its aerodynamic characteristics. However, in the previous study, the aerodynamic forces of flying debris were derived from quasi-steady assumption. In this study we construct a CFD technique, by which the aerodynamic forces of the flying debris with various complex geometry and any form of motion can be simulated without any quasi-steady assumption. This computational method is applied to predict the trajectory of a flying plate with or various rotation modes. We can simulate the effect of the initial angle of attack of a plate on the trajectory.
