Using Mobile Research Radar to Extract Hurricane Boundary Layer Wind Information

Abstract eng:
This paper seeks to provide justification for using mobile research radar to document certain aspects of the low level wind structure within hurricanes. Using the Shared Mobile Atmospheric Research and Teaching Radars (SR) as an example, data from Hurricane Isabel and Frances are used to examine hurricane boundary layer wind streaks and rolls, and the development of the coastal internal boundary layer.
