Influence of Relative Dimensions and Arrangement of Buildings on Wind Environment Around Buildings

Abstract eng:
Presence of an interfering building on the upstream side of a high-rise building alters the wind environment around the high-rise building. Present paper describes the results of the experimental study carried out on rigid models of buildings in a boundary layer wind tunnel in order to study the amount by which wind environment will get changed due to the relative dimensions and arrangement of the interfering building in the near vicinity. Model of a low-rise building is placed on the upstream side of the high-rise building model. Spacing between two models is varied and wind velocity measured between them. Further, height of high-rise building model is varied to study the influence of relative dimensions on wind velocity.
