Several typical sources of inaccuracy in isolation detailing were expounded based on the author’s investigation. Dynamic analysis was performed for both time domain response and random response, and an antioverturning moment ratio which is defined in engineering design is employed to judge the overturning capacity of the isolated structure
 η<sub>AOj</sub>=M<sub>Aj</sub>/M<sub>Oj</sub>
 The numerical result shows that the inaccuracy of isolation detailing should be taken into account for determining the limit value of the height to width ratio of isolated buildings.
