In the present paper, the Kane's equation based integrated tower-hub-blade model is firstly studied and verified by a shaking table test.
By Kane's equation, the equation of motion of the element taking into account the rotational effect takes the form
 Meü' + Ceů' + Keu' = fe
where the matrices Me,Ce and Ke are different from those when the blades are at rest. Correction terms related to the angular velocity matrix Ω are imposed. Combined with the finite elements of the tower, an integrated model could be established. Figure 1 shows the comparison between the numerical results and the shaking table test.
Incorporating the integrated model into the probability density evolution method (PDEM) (Li & Chen, 2009) could implement reliability evaluation of the offshore wind turbine systems under strong wind (Li et al, 2012). Figure 2 shows the PDF surface of the instantaneous response of the hub displacement. Shown in Figure 3 is the PDF of the extreme value of the hub displacement. An integral then gives the first-passage reliability, 99.18%.
