RESPONSE OF MULTIPLY CONNECTED PLATES TO A POINT FORCE

Abstract eng:
The response of a multiply connected Poisson-Kirchhoff plate to a transverse point concentrated force is evaluated by a modified version of the classical method of functional equations. The resolving potentials are constructed with the aid of Green’s functions of the biharmonic equation for simply connected regions of standard shape. Importance of having effectively computable representations of such Green’s functions is pointed out. The boundary value problems to consider reduce to some functional (integral) equations with smooth kernels allowing an accurate numerical solution.
