PROBABILISTIC ASSESSMENT OF SERVICE LIMIT STATE FOR OFFSHORE PLATFORMS IN MEXICO

Abstract eng:
This paper describes the probabilistic limit-state for displacements and accelerations on a living-quarters offshore platform in Mexico. The platform is modeled as a one DOF system and the environmental loading is expressed in terms of the maximum wave height. The probability to exceed a prescribed displacement is obtained by convolving a series of probabilities that the displacement is exceeded, conditional to assumed maximum wave heights, by the occurrence probability of each maximum wave height. The formulation may be used to develop thresholds on serviceability conditions for offshore platforms.
