The method can be applied to both multi-phase materials with inclusions of arbitrary geometry and spatial distribution as well as materials with smoothly varying properties. Since conductivity is assumed to vary randomly in space and its range is bounded, it is represented by non-Gaussian random fields. Translation and filtered Poisson random fields are used to modeled the material microstructure. The analysis is based on direct integration or the Itō formula and Monte Carlo simulation. Properties of the effective conductivity are calculated for one and two dimensional random heterogeneous two-phase material models. Numerical results show that conductivity, as other effective properties, experiences size effect.
