000004682 520__ $$2eng$$aThe laboratory experimental work conducted on discrete fibers/cement/very soft clay soil composite (FR-CDM) gave a good impression toward using Discrete Randomly Distributed Fibers (DRDF) as a new additional additive to the conventional Cement Deep Mixing method of soft ground improvement (CDM) by which the compressive strength of treated soils can be extremely increased but, in addition to low tensile strength of CDM soils, the failure under compression and tension is brittle its hazard increases proportionally with increasing the required cement dosage. Fiber inclusion solved this problem and significantly enhanced the static response of the composite by increasing compressive and tensile strengths in addition to increasing the ductility and absorbed strain energy. Herein, the unite volume of FR-CDM composite, as an artificial system, has been analyzed and formulas express the physical properties of the FR-CDM composite has been established as an essential step for future research work in this area.
