The calculations were performed for a range of Reynolds numbers significantly higher than those previously performed on the same flow configuration. All three schemes provided correct boundary-layer separation and accurate heat flux through the front and back surfaces of the cylinder. The far-field vorticity and temperature distributions varied with respect to the selection of the scheme. The QUICK scheme appears to give the optimum compromise between the numerical instabilities of the central-differencing scheme and the false numerical diffusion of the power-law scheme.
