NUMERICAL MODELLING OF TRAFFIC INDUCED VIBRATIONS IN BUILDINGS BASED ON A DYNAMIC SOIL-STRUCTURE INTERACTION FORMULATION

Abstract eng:
A numerical prediction model for road traffic induced vibrations is developed. Dynamic soilstructure interaction at the source and the structure is accounted for. The first objective is to present the essential elements of the numerical prediction model. Secondly, experimental data will be used for the validation of the numerical model. Therefore, vibration measurements in and near a single family dwelling are performed during the passage of a truck at different speeds on an uneven concrete road with joints and on an artificial profile. The third objective is to present the ongoing research in the modelling of the single family dwelling.
